The Journey Of The Prophet Muhammad PBUH to #At-Taif

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

The Prophet Muhammad PBUH surely has been through tremendous difficulties in the way of Allah, just to deliver the message and to save the humanity from the fire.

When the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, went to Taif, He, may God bless him and grant him peace, started with the masters of the people to whom the matter would end.

He spoke to them about Islam and called them to God. They responded harshly to him and said to him: “Get out of our country.”

So they followed him cursing him and shouting at him and throwing stones at him, so the peace be upon him was injured in his feet until blood flowed from them, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, was affected by worry, sadness and fatigue, which made him fall on his honorable face.

He, Peace and blessings be upon Him, woke up feeling so sad.

The prophet's compilation to Allah

Then the prophet raised his hands, complaining to Allah and said : "Oh, Allah, I appeal to you for the weakness in my strength, and my limited power, and the treatment of contempt and humiliation from people. To you, the most Merciful of all the Merciful ones, you are the Lord of the oppressed, and you are my Lord Under whose care are you leaving me to? To an enemy oppressing me? Or to a friend you have given control of my affair? If there is no anger from you on me I will forever be content. However, your blessing is vastly important for me I seek refuge with the glory of your light, which the heavens and earth are lit form, your anger will not befall on me, nor your displeasure descends on me. To you is the supplication until you are pleased, and there is no control or power except by you."

Then, he saw a cloud came above Him, shadowing Him, and keeps Him safe from the hear of the sun.

The visit of #Jibreel

Gabriel was sent to Him with the cloud, telling Him that God sent the #angle of the mountains and said, "O Muhammad! Order what you wish. If you like, I will let Al-Akh-Shabain (i.e. two mountains) fall on them., so the answer came from him, peace be upon him, to pardon them, saying: "No but I hope that Allah will let them beget children who will worship Allah Alone, and will worship None besides Him."

A Gift From Allah To His Beloved Prophet

The Isra and Mi’raj journey after the return of the Messenger of God from Taif; It is like a reward from Allah - the Most High - for him after this incident that afflicted him, so God wanted it to remove the grief that had fallen on him from his chest.

#Al_Israa' (The Night Journey) is the departure of the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - from the Sacred Mosque to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, riding on the Buraq, and his return on the same night.

As for Al_mi'raj (the Ascension); It is the ascension of the Messenger on the same night from Al-Aqsa Mosque to the highest heavens, and from there to Sidrat Al-Muntaha, then his return to Al-Aqsa Mosque on the same night, and God - Glory be to Him - mentioned this miracle in the Noble Qur’an, God #Almighty said:

"Glory be to the One Who took His servant ˹Muḥammad˺ by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque whose surroundings We have blessed, so that We may show him some of Our signs. Indeed, He alone is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing".

[Surah Al-Isra' 1]
