"Islamic Death Brigade" | Led by Ikrimah Inb-Abi-Jahl

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

It is amazing how the companiesof the Prophet Muhammad PBUH were so brave! .

In the Battle of #Yarmouk, the #Muslims became more distressed when nearly half a million Romans were about to destroy the Muslim army after they surrounded them from all sides.

This feat of Islamic hero took up his sword and made the hardest decision ever in any human's life, the decision to die.

He called out to the Muslims in a voice resembling thunder: O Muslims, who will pledge allegiance to death?

So 400 Muslim guerrillas came to him, and they are known in history as (the Islamic Death Brigade).

At that time, Khalid bin Al-Walid, may God be pleased with him, turned towards Ikrima and said to him:

"Don't do that, cousin, for your killing will be severe for the Muslims."

Ikrimah looked at him and said:

"Don't stop me, Khalid, for you had a precedent with the Messenger of God. As for me and my father, we were among the hardest of people against the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and I fought the Messenger of God in many places, and flee from the Romans today?! This will never happen, so let me compensate what I have done before"

Ikrimah and those with him began to fight, and the Romans were surprised by the lions of prey that pounced on them to smash their skulls, and a

guerrilla after another advanced towards thousands of the Roman army.

Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl, may God be pleased with him, personally advanced to the heart of the Roman army, to break the siege of the Muslim army.

And he actually managed to make a hole in the enemy's army after he pounced on their ranks.

So the Roman commander ordered that all arrows be aimed at this guerrilla, and the horse of Ikrima fell due to the large number of arrows that were planted in it.

He jumped from the back of his horse and advanced alone about tens of thousands of Romans fighting them with his sword, then the Romans aimed their arrows at his heart.

When the Muslims saw that heroic scene, feelings were mixed in their chests, so the guerrillas of the death squad rushed towards their leader in order to die in the way of Allah as they pledged allegiance to him.

The Romans did not believe their eyes when they saw those four hundred Mujahideen advancing with their feet to certain death, so God cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved.

The Romans retreated and fled, and the cries of Allahu Akbar were chasing them from the mouths of the guerrillas.

And that martyrdom unit was able to break the siege on the Muslim army.

After the battle, Khalid bin Al-Walid searched for his cousin Ikrima to find him lying between two soldiers of his commando battalion:

“(Al-Harith Ibn Hisham) and (Ayyash Ibn Abi Rabi’ah)”

And blood flows from all of them, may God be pleased with them all.
